Airbrushing a Pair of Custom Chuck Taylors
written and photographed by Jeremy Constantineau
One of the mottos we always find ourselves saying here at Sketchs Ink is that if paint will stick to it, we'll paint it. This airbrushing project done by Tim Feher for Roger from Wicked Garage should be all the proof you need that we aren't kidding.
Tim had airbrushed a pair of Chucks a few weeks before these ones (which are now on display in the Sketchs Ink showroom). Roger from Wicked garage took notice and wanted a pair of his own.
Roger wasn't sure on the design he wanted. So, he left the choice up to Tim and then left him to work.
"Talking with [Roger] a bit, I knew that he really likes his 64' Impala. He always wanted a 60's car and now that he has it, it's his baby" said Tim when asked about his inspiration behind the design.
"I knew that I wanted to incorporate [the impala] into the design. I chose the red, white, and black because it went with his business cards for Wicked Garage. With the pinstriping, the logo, the car; everything fit together really well."
Tim worked on airbrushing the shoes for 3 days before he was finished. If you're curious about how much something like this would go for, a pair of customized Chuck Taylor low cuts start at $350, and high tops start at $500. (CAD)
